Atrium Health is transforming the way healthcare is delivered in Anson County. Today, Atrium Health opened a new 46,800-square-foot hospital in Wadesboro, N.C., taking the place of Anson Community Hospital. Carolinas HealthCare System Anson is more than just a new hospital; it’s a new healthcare model for Anson County residents that provides high quality care through traditional hospital services, patient and caregiver relationships, wellness and prevention education, and strong community partnerships. This well-rounded model of care is known as a “medical home” and ensures that healthcare is a shared commitment between care providers, patients and the community. As part of the new model, the hospital also embeds primary care services within the Emergency Department, helping to reduce the number of unnecessary ED visits. “Carolinas HealthCare System Anson is bringing healthcare out from behind the walls of the hospital and delivering care in ways that best fit the Anson community,” said Gary Henderson, assistant vice president of Carolinas HealthCare System Anson. “This is truly an exciting time for not only the community but also for Atrium Health, as we work together to transform the health status of this community.” Carolinas HealthCare System Anson has partnered with local public health organizations, like the Anson County Health Department, and other community partners to provide access to faith-based community health programs, a mobile unit for convenient care, and educational opportunities focused on prevention and wellness. The new facility offers 24/7 emergency care; 15 inpatient beds; patient-centered hospital services such as radiology, digital imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and surgery services; a community room for health education; and access to specialty services through Atrium Health.
