To beat pediatric cancer, we need all of us working together.
Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC, is proud to be the founder and headquarters of Alliance for Research and InnovationS in PEdiatric Oncology, also known as ARISE Cancer Consortium™. We’re working toward a cure, while improving research, treatment and supportive care on our way there.
ARISE Cancer Consortium™ has invited every children’s hospital in the Carolinas to join us in fighting pediatric cancer and caring for patients where they are. Together, we can bring innovation and hope to pediatric cancer patients in our region like never before.
By fostering collaboration, ARISE Cancer Consortium™ strives to inspire hope, ignite innovation and transform the future for every child, adolescent and young adult with cancer.
Our alliance gives patients in our communities early access to first-of-their-kind clinical trials, research and therapies. To start, we’re opening a clinical trial aimed at reducing hospital stays for osteosarcoma patients receiving high-dose methotrexate, with more trials to follow in the near future. All clinical trials opened by ARISE Cancer Consortium™ will be administratively run by Atrium Health Levine Cancer, the largest cancer program in the Carolinas.
Every pediatric cancer consortium aims to beat pediatric cancer once and for all. In addition to getting closer to a cure, our consortium is uniquely dedicated to improving care and quality of life along the way. This includes focusing on supportive care, survivorship and other efforts that make a difference for patients today.
Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital has everything a pediatric cancer consortium needs to run smoothly. In addition to our dedicated ARISE Cancer Consortium™ team, we have:
Nationally recognized cancer care – Levine Children’s Hospital has a strong history of providing exceptional pediatric cancer care for children across the region – and even from around the world. U.S. News & World Report has named us a Best Children’s Hospital for pediatric cancer care for many years.
Administration by Levine Cancer – All clinical trials will be administratively run by Atrium Health Levine Cancer. Support for the whole child – Cancer affects every part of a child’s life. From integrative medicine like aromatherapy to our dedicated survivorship program, we have services committed to helping families navigate cancer every step of the way.
A coordinated network – Atrium Health is the third largest not-for-profit in the country, and Levine Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington, D.C. With our extensive network of clinicians, researchers, specialists and laboratories, we’re fully equipped to support next-level research and clinical trials.
Decades of expertise – Levine Children’s Hospital has years of experience treating even the most complex pediatric cancers and blood disorders. We’ve even performed many successful Phase I clinical trials, including for CAR-T cell therapy, which uses a patient’s own cells to attack cancer.
An academic core – We’re part of Advocate Health, with Wake Forest University School of Medicine at our academic core. As a powerhouse of academic medicine and research, we’re at the forefront of medical advances in our region and beyond.
