As a senior leader of Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute, Dr. Mitchell helps oversee approximately 80 healthcare providers, 14 outpatient sites and nine facilities that serve more than 25,000 patient visits each year. He serves as the primary investigator of the TOMORROW Alzheimer’s disease study at Atrium Health’s Northern Region Research Center – one of only 20 sites selected in the United States and 50 planned worldwide to validate a genetically focused biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease and test the efficacy of a drug to delay it. In addition to his clinical responsibilities as a neurologist, Dr. Mitchell is a clinical assistant professor of neurology at Duke University Medical Center.
