With Atrium Health Lifestyle Medicine, care happens where you’re most comfortable – at home, whether it’s a telehealth video visit or in person.
Lifestyle medicine focuses on simple, daily habits that support your health, like eating well, staying active, getting good sleep, managing stress and avoiding harmful substances.
Why is it important? Imagine having more energy, feeling your best for your loved ones and creating a healthier life that works for you. Lifestyle medicine helps you make small changes that can lead to big results – like reducing your risk of cancer or relying less on medication.
Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, starting a wellness journey or just looking to keep your family healthy, we’re here to help. By visiting you at home, we get to know your habits, environments and challenges, which help us design care that’s truly personalized for you. This might include practical guidance, such as roasting vegetables, going for daily walks or using essential oils to help you relax.
Take the first step – schedule a virtual lifestyle medicine consultation today and start your journey to better health.

Home visits are covered by insurance at no cost for patients with commercial plans. Lifestyle Medicine at Home works with your primary care doctor, not as a replacement. If you don’t have a doctor, we can help you find one.

We can also meet with you virtually, so you can see us face-to-face wherever you’re most comfortable.
If you’re open to learning new ways to manage your health and willing to make small changes to your lifestyle, you’re eligible. It’s that simple!
No, we don’t replace your primary care doctor. We work as a team with them, keeping them updated on your progress and any changes in your care.
You can choose a plan with just 1 visit or multiple visits over 9 months. Everyone’s schedule is different, but many people find it helpful to meet weekly for the first month, every other week the next month and then once a month after that. We also encourage you to stay connected with our peer support specialist and join our group events.
Yes. If you have both video and audio on your device and are in North Carolina, we can meet virtually.
We can meet wherever you feel most comfortable – your home or a family member’s or friend’s home. While virtual visits are possible, in-person home visits often give us the best information and help us tailor care just for you.
Yes! We welcome family members or close friends who are part of your daily life to join in and support you on your journey.
A peer support specialist is here to help you stay on track with your health goals. They can meet you in everyday places like the park or grocery store. They also offer activities (like learning how to cut vegetables or plan healthy meals) that you can schedule through your patient portal.
Group events are free and include a plant-based meal plus 3 small group activities – things like practicing mindfulness, deep breathing exercises or learning about nutrition. Each event lasts about 2 hours. We also host other group activities like taste-testing sessions, meal planning and group walks.
If you have Medicaid, the cost is the same as a regular primary care visit. For commercial insurance and Medicare Advantage, there’s no out-of-pocket cost. We bill your insurance and review all charges. If we see something that doesn’t look right, we dispute if for you. For billing questions, you can email us at LifestyleMedicine@AtriumHealth.org
