Concussion symptoms

Common symptoms of a concussion may include:

  1. Acting somewhat confused
  2. Being drowsy or hard to wake up
  3. Bothered by light or noise
  4. Dizziness or balance problems
  5. Feeling like you have "lost time"
  6. Headache
  7. Memory loss (amnesia) of events before the injury or right after
  8. Nausea and vomiting
  9. Sleep problems
  10. Unable to concentrate or not thinking clearly

The following are warning signs of a more severe head injury or concussion. If you notice any of these symptoms, get medical help immediately:

  1. Changes in alertness and consciousness
  2. Can't be awakened
  3. Can't recognize people or places
  4. Seizures
  5. Slurred speech
  6. Unusual behavior changes
  7. Walking or balance problems
  8. Weakness or numbness in arms or legs
  9. Worsening headache
  10. Repeated vomiting
