Biography

Dr. Leon Guerrero is board certified in neurology and vascular neurology. He has clinical interests in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke prevention.
He is the outpatient stroke director in the Department of Neurology at Atrium Health Neurology Kenilworth.
Dr. Leon Guerrero chose neurology because of the impact he could have helping individuals afflicted with various neurologic ailments. He is excited to be part of a field that is dynamic and rapidly advancing to help patients.
He has received multiple awards, including Top Doc from the Washingtonian, the John J. Kelly Teaching Award at George Washington University, the Golden Apple Teaching Award at Duke University, the Excellence in Teaching Resident Award at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Neurology Clerkship Teaching Award Honor Roll at Washington University in St. Louis and the Medical Student Prize for Excellence in Neurology Award from the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Leon Guerrero received his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed residency at Duke University. He completed a fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
His research interests include stroke and medical education, and he has published articles in a number of medical journals, including Neurology, Annals of Neurology and Stroke.
Dr. Leon Guerrero is married to an OB/GYN, and they have 2 children. He enjoys running and fishing.
