Biography
“Although seizures and epilepsy are rather prevalent disorders, I believe each case is unique and each patient requires a different approach. With a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic options available, I find it very important to offer a tailored strategy in every case. I enjoy working with patients and their families to meet each patient’s individuals goals, achieve freedom from seizures and enrich their quality of life.“
Dr. Humes is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy. She focuses on epilepsy treatments for adults that use electrical stimulation.
She has been named an Atrium Health MD of the Quarter. Her clinical interests include medically refractory epilepsy, neurostimulation therapies for epilepsy, receptor regulation and the role of neurotransmitters in epilepsy.
Dr. Humes received her medical degree at Lugansk State Medical University. She completed residency and fellowships in clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy at the University of Virginia.
Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, cycling, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
