Biography
“I enjoy partnering with patients and families in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders. While I am delighted when I can resolve a patient's issues, I also derive immense satisfaction in helping a patient manage their symptoms and improving quality of life despite suffering from a neuromuscular disorder.”
Dr. McCluskey is board certified in neuromuscular medicine and electrodiagnostic medicine. He specializes in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, motor neuron disease and other neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. McCluskey serves as the director of the Neuromuscular Program at Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute Charlotte, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center. He also founded and was the medical director of the ALS Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
He has been recognized as a Philadelphia Magazine Best Doctor for multiple years. Dr. McCluskey is also professor emeritus of the Neurology Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is currently involved in research focusing on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and myasthenia gravis clinical trials.
Dr. McCluskey received his medical education at Columbia University. He completed a residency and fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and family. He loves to cook, homebrew beer, garden and bird watch.
