Research Study Coordinator Float Pool

The study coordinator team within the Office of Clinical and Translational Research (OCTR) employs both registered nurse and non-nurse clinical research coordinators who are placed in various departments across Atrium Health based on study needs.

A Focus on Outcomes

Because of the high volume of patients seen by the plastic surgery unit at Atrium Health, we’re in a unique position to follow outcomes. However, our focus isn’t solely on quantitative data. We also follow how patients are feeling about their outcomes – such as breast and maxillofacial reconstruction – and how those outcomes are impacting their lives. Using this information, we’re able to adjust care strategies – from pre-operative to surgical to post-operative phases. The result is that we use our findings to achieve objective, high-quality outcomes with a large volume of patients.

A Commitment to Clinical Trials

Much of the research we do with sponsors is related to medical device trials, including clinical mesh studies and maxillofacial plates. We also partner with sponsors to study Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols, such as decreasing the opioid burden on patients after surgery.
