Improving Outcomes Through Urological Surgery Research

Our urology surgery research team is focused on advancing the field of urology through basic (translational-bench to bedside) and clinical research. We’re also vested in evaluating and tracking outcomes in the pre- and post-operative stages of urologic care as well as the process of quality improvement and self-evaluation.

Performing nearly 6,000 urologic-related procedures annually, our research team is committed to advancing the curve of medical technology and expanding the capabilities of minimally invasive procedures.

Our current areas of research include:

• Translational efforts to determine responses to intravesical therapy for bladder cancer as well as why some patients don’t respond to chemotherapy before bladder removal
• Clinical research efforts to reduce pain and downtime after surgery as well as complications by following enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols
• Evaluating new laser platforms for urological stone disease treatment
• Developing less-invasive incontinence treatments
