About Dr. Carson: Dr. Carson joined Atrium Health Cabarrus in 2002. Her primary practice site is with the Population Health Care Teams. Previously, she was a clinical specialist at Atrium Health Kannapolis Internal Medicine where she developed diabetes and lipid management services prior to moving into her management role of the Chronic Care Medication Management team. She enjoys teaching and leading discussions about healthcare culture, policy and unique opportunities for pharmacy in care delivery and impact on patient care outcomes. Dr. Carson has also precepted fourth year Wingate University School of Pharmacy students since the school was established locally. She has been involved in several IRB-approved research studies at Atrium Health. Currently, Dr. Carson is a pharmacy manager for the ACM population health pharmacy team, coordinates ambulatory care students for the greater Charlotte region and is the Residency Program Director.

About Dr. Wilkins: Dr. Wilkins joined Atrium Health in 1997 and has spent his career in ambulatory care. He currently serves as a director of pharmacy, managing ambulatory clinical pharmacy services which includes primary care, transitions of care, population health management and value-based care. Special interests include administration, leadership and practice sustainability. Clinical areas of interest include diabetes, anticoagulation, asthma, cardiac risk reduction and HIV. Dr. Wilkins is also passionate about the role lifestyle plays in chronic disease and he is certified in culinary medicine.

About Dr. Barnes: Dr. Barnes joined Atrium Health in 2012 as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist for Myers Park Pharmacy, working not only in the dispensing area but also helping manage patient care within asthma, HIV and anticoagulation clinics. She later became the pharmacy supervisor of this location before accepting a position as the clinical lead for the HIV service line within AH Specialty Pharmacy. About Dr. Boyce: Dr. Boyce joined the outpatient pharmacy department at Atrium Health in 2011 and transitioned to the specialty pharmacy in 2015. Her professional interests include the therapeutic management of Hepatitis C, insurance approval and medication access, medication compliance and quality and safety. About Dr. Burleson: Dr. Burleson joined Atrium Health Cabarrus in 2006 as an inpatient pharmacy resident. After residency, she worked as an inpatient clinical pharmacist throughout the hospital and in multiple ambulatory care clinics within the physician network. In 2012, she transitioned to a full time ambulatory care position and started as clinic leader at Atrium Health Primary Care Ardsley Internal Medicine. Dr. Burleson serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents at Atrium Health Cabarrus and pharmacy students from Wingate. She has multiple clinical interests including, but not limited to, pharmacotherapy management of anticoagulation, diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

About Dr. Olenik: She joined the Ambulatory Care Management population health team in 2014. In her current position, she covers the Union Region which includes 10 different primary care clinic sites. She works closely with her interdisciplinary team that includes a Nurse Care Manager and a Health Advocate, among others, to help her patients meet their health goals. As a clinical pharmacist practitioner on the team, her primary function is chronic disease state management for provider referred patients, as well as management of system identified patients within our ACO. The team works to deliver high-quality care and to reduce cost where possible, especially in attempting to prevent inpatient admissions and unnecessary ED utilization. She enjoys mentoring and precepting pharmacy residents as well as pharmacy students from various pharmacy schools.

About Dr. Strassels: Dr. Strassels joined the Atrium Health Division of Pharmacy Services in 2021 and serves as Research Associate Professor, specializing in health outcomes research. Scott earned his BS and PharmD from the University of Arizona and his PhD from the University of Washington. He also completed research fellowships in pharmacoeconomics and acute pain outcomes. Dr. Strassels' research is focused on understanding the economics, epidemiology and patient-reported outcomes associated with pain, palliative care and end-of-life care. His hobbies include running and playing acoustic guitar.
