PGY1 Pharmacy Residency: Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center
Why CMC?: During my PGY1 residency year at CMC, I observed the vital role pharmacists play in the ED and their close collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The pharmacy-friendly environment and strong, well-established presence really stood out to me. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with all the preceptors on various rotations and longitudinal projects, where their clinical expertise and dedication to teaching were evident, which reinforced my desire to continue my training here. I was also drawn to the programs robust offering of projects, teaching opportunities, and elective rotations. As Charlotte’s only Level I trauma center, CMC sees a high volume of critically ill patients and complex cases, providing countless opportunities for learning. Ultimately, I felt this program would provide the challenges and support needed to become a confident, knowledgeable pharmacist and a leader in emergency medicine.
