While CMC checked all those boxes for me, what sold me was the great interactions between the residents and faculty during my interview day and dinner. This is a truly collegial program that strongly invests in their residents' education and growth and gives them an immense amount of support from all levels. Everyone was incredibly kind and eager to help. The residents were strong leaders and clearly saw each other as family, from interns to chiefs. While rotating in Charlotte as a fourth-year medical student I was impressed by the operative volume and high level of autonomy given to the residents by attendings. The culture of the program is unmatched. All of the residents interacted together and any level resident could talk directly to a chief. There was a culture of hard work and excellence.
