Why CMC? I rotated on the MFM service at CMC during my 4th year of medical school and fell in love with the hospital, residents, faculty and staff. The volume and acuity is high, and I knew I wanted to train at a program that would give me solid obstetric and gynecologic training with a diverse patient population. It was also evident during the interview process and my visiting rotation that my passion for reproductive justice was shared among the residents and faculty. Ultimately, it was the people that solidified CMC as my first choice for residency. It’s an honor to learn alongside doctors that work incredibly hard without compromising kindness and compassion. Charlotte being a great city to live and work in is another added bonus!

Why CMC? When I was applying to residency, it was crucial for me to find a program that offered excellent generalist training along with a supportive and uplifting community of faculty and co-residents. I also wanted to venture out of my home state of Louisiana for residency and hoped to find a surrogate family to support me through the journey. The moment I attended the open house and resident social at CMC, I was blown away. The program's close-knit nature was evident, and all the residents spoke highly of the attendings, nursing staff, and APPs. Many residents even choose to stay after residency, which spoke volumes to me. I was thrilled to see CMC when I opened my envelope on match day and I feel so lucky to be joining the CMC family!

Why CMC? From the beginning, I sought a residency program that focused on training well-rounded generalists, offered exposure to a diverse patient population, and genuinely cared about resident well-being and growth. After interviewing at CMC, it was clear that this program checked all those boxes and more. My interview day at CMC was filled with positivity and warmth. Everyone I met was incredibly welcoming and easy to talk to. I already knew Charlotte was a vibrant and exciting city, so discovering a program that matched its energy was a big plus. The residents and leadership have been incredibly inviting and supportive as I transition to being an intern. CMC embodies a strong team-focused environment, where the collective goal is for every resident to learn and succeed. I couldn't be happier to have matched at my number one choice for residency!

Why CMC? When beginning to look at Ob/Gyn residencies the process was extremely overwhelming. I knew I wanted to find a residency program that had a high volume, high acuity and a diverse patient population. I am interested in pursuing a fellowship but also want to have a strong generalist foundation that will allow me to succeed in whichever avenue I choose. I also wanted to find a kind, welcoming environment that fostered both personal and academic growth. CMC made my decision easy, because it truly has it all. During my social and interview, it became abundantly clear how close the residents were with each other and how supportive the faculty is. This was my only interview where I was truly laughing with both the attendings and residents. There is ample support and mentorships for residents pursuing fellowship or generalist careers. I feel like I have found both my place in medicine and my people here at CMC. I am thrilled to be training at CMC!

Why CMC? CMC came highly recommended by residents at my home program as a place where the residents worked hard and had great patient volume but also had a friendly culture. I decided to apply to an away rotation here, and I still remember being so excited when I was accepted! During my away rotation the residents were so nice in helping orient me to a new hospital and EMR, and they treated me so kindly. The attendings also made me feel so welcome and pushed me to learn everything I could during my month here! I knew that I got along great with everyone I had met in the program, and it’s ultimately why CMC ended up so high on my rank list! I am so excited to be at a program that has high volume, friendly people, likes to have fun and is in a city that is never boring!

Why CMC? I chose CMC because this program truly has it all! I knew I wanted to train at a program with high volume and high acuity. However, I also wanted to be at a program that treated their residents as people. From the moment I interviewed, I knew I wanted to be a part of this group. It's clear that the faculty are supportive of residents, and the residents are close to one another. Now that I’m here I can confirm this is all true. I have found all I wanted and more, and I’m so excited to spend the next 4 years here!
